Lexy joined the Cape Fear Cheer team as an Assistant Coach in the Fall of 2023. She is originally from Rosehill North Carolina, which gave her the chance to explore Wilmington over the years and make her decision to establish Wilmington as her home.

Coach Russell began competitive cheerleading at the age of 7 and cheered Allstar for 11 years at American Elite Allstars of Ohio now known as World Elite. She has based, backed, sided, and flown within the 11 years with American Elite Allstars. Coach Russell cheered for 4 1/2 years with the Gannon University competitive Cheer and Dance team.

Coach Russell coached for 2 years on the Allstar level and was able to win a bid to The Summit Championship in the second year of the competition. She has also competed in the competitive cheer World Championships - winning multiple National titles and placing in the top 3 at NCA in Daytona with Gannon University.

Lexy has her bachelor's degree in Health Science with a Minor in Psychology and is currently working on her master's degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning.

In her spare time, Lexy enjoys hanging out at the beach, catching up with friends, spending time with family, going to the gym, volunteering, and traveling.
