Sea Devils Look To Finish Strong

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College basketball team will take a 9-3 record into finals week and then bring in the Holidays with a home game against Tidewater CC and an appearance at the M&M Storage Classic at Brunswick CC.

The Sea Devils rolled over Central Carolina CC 73-58 Saturday at the Schwartz Center.  As he has throughout the season, Faronte Drakeford led the Sea Devils with 23 points.  Cape Fear also had three other players score in double figures.  Anthony Williams powered his way to his second career double-double, 16 points and 12 rebounds.  Tony Menton added 10 to round out the double digit scoring for the Sea Devils.

This Saturday, Cape Fear will entertain Tidewater CC at 5pm.  Earlier in the day, the Sea Devil Cheerleading squad will host a clinic for kids 5-12.  And the participants will perform with the Cape Fear cheerleaders at halftime. The cost for the clinic is $25 and includes a t-shirt, snack and dinner.

Cape Fear will play next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Brunswick Community College.  The Sea Devils battle Hartford CC, Caldwell CC and Palm Beach State College.  Cape Fear is undefeated in their seven games away from home this season.

The Sea Devils return from the Holidays January 5 with a home game against Rockingham CC.  Tip-off for the contest is slated for 3 pm. 

Drakeford leads the Sea Devils averaging 22 points and 8 rebounds per game.  Drakeford is also hitting 61 percent from the floor and 85 percent at the free throw line.
