Lattimore Named Men's Assistant Basketball Coach

Wilmington, NC - John Lattimore is entering his debut season as assistant coach at Cape Fear Community College after spending the last two years as Graduate Manager for Buzz Peterson at UNC Wilmington.

Prior to his stint at UNCW, he served as an assistant at Crest High School, helping the team to its first playoff birth in three years. While at Crest, he headed post skill development, which saw both starting post players earn all-conference honors.

Coach Lattimore served as a student manager at Appalachian State from 2007 to 2010, under Houston Fancher and Buzz Peterson, contributing to two Southern Conference North Division regular season titles, as well as a conference tournament runner-up finish in 2010.

Lattimore also served as assistant director of the Stephen Curry Skills Academy in 2011, in which 75 of the top high school players, and fifteen of the best college players participated, including multiple players now playing in the NBA.

Coach Lattimore played at Shelby High School for Aubrey Hollifield, getting to the State Western Regional finals in 2007. The 2006-07 team also went undefeated in conference play, winning both the regular season and tournament titles, going 25-5 on the season.

"We are thrilled to have Coach Lattimore join our staff," commented Sea Devil head coach Ryan Mantlo.  "His recruiting ties in North Carolina and work ethic make him the perfect fit for our program."
