Sea Devils Start New Year Off With Win

Wilmington, NC - After a three-week layoff due to the holidays, the Cape Fear Men's basketball team started the New Year on the right track with a 103-79 win at home over S.C. Sports Academy. Anthony Vanhook had a stellar performance with a game-high 31 points, 18 of which came in the first half to pace the Sea Devils.

"We needed to get this out of our system coming off Christmas break," said CFCC Head Coach Ryan Mantlo. "We were sloppy early, but responded in the second half to pull away."

Osandi Vaughn chipped in with 17 points for Cape Fear, who moved to 7-9 on the year.

"We must get better fast with this weekend's big game approaching," said Mantlo.

The Sea Devils return to the floor in a big Region X game as part of a men's and women's doubleheader set for Saturday, Jan. 11 against the Dolphins of Brunswick County Community College. Tip-off for the women is set 4 p.m., followed by the men's game.
