Sea Devils Extend Winning Streak

Raleigh, NC - Osandai Vaughn dropped 31 points as the Cape Fear men's basketball team pulled out an 83-81 win over Wake Tech in Raleigh on Friday night. None more important the Vaughn's last bucket of the game, as a driving floater found the bottom of the net with 3.2 seconds remaining.  A last second heave from Wake Tech came up short, giving the Sea Devils the road win.  Anthony Vanhook chipped in with 18 points for the CFCC, who got back to the .500 mark at 10-10 on the season and 1-1 in Region 10 play. Aaron Thomas rounded out the double digit scoring for the Sea Devils as he dumped in 10 points.

"Our energy was poor to begin the game, but we responded well in the second half," said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. "We must be more consistent to have a chance at a championship."

Saturday, the Cape Fear Community College men's basketball team picked up their second win in as many days and extended their winning streak to three games in a row with a 90-76 win at Central Carolina CC on Saturday.

Anthony Vanhook led all scorers with 30 points and Osandai Vaughn dropped 27, while Demcarus Sanford chipped in with 15 to put three players in double figures.

"We played with much better intensity today," said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. "Hopefully we can continue to build upon this and get that consistency we need with a huge weekend ahead of us."

The Sea Devils (1-1, 11-10) have won six out of their last seven and finish up a four game road trip with back-to-back games Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in South Carolina against Spartanburg Methodist and Clinton Junior College.
