Folk Inks with Pfeiffer University

MISENHEIMER, NC – Pfeiffer University men's head basketball coach Jeremy Currier has announced the signing of Nigel Jackson and Rob Folk to National Letters of Intent. The duo will help beef up the paint as they stand 6-9 and 6-11 respectively.

"These two young men are an excellent beginning to our recruiting class," said Currier. "We are looking forward to them becoming part of the Pfeiffer community next fall."

Folk is a 6-11, 300 pound center from Washington, D.C. Last season at Cape Fear Community College he helped lead the Sea Devils to a 19-14 record, a national ranking of No. 24 in NJCAA Division I, and a trip to the National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS.  Cape Fear has been one of the most consistent and successful program in the region, having won three Region X Championships in the last 5 years.

"Pfeiffer signed a great young man in Rob Folk," said Cape Fear Community College head coach Ryan Mantlo. "He will be a tremendous ambassador to the program and has a chance to be a special player for the Falcons.  Coach Currier did a tremendous job in the recruiting process and I am excited to see Rob chose Pfeiffer."

Prior to Cape Fear Community College, Folk played high school ball for Friendship Academy under head coach Clinton Crouch.

"Defensively, he is already coming on. Robert can block shots, rebound, and fill up the lane," Crouch said. "He is a big kid who likes to play big, play tough inside. He can definitely be a force inside, especially on defense. He likes to play tough and he'll do the things inside that you need."

Currier on Folk: "Rob Folk is a big-bodied center, standing at 6'11", 300 pounds. His excellent footwork and smarts keep him competitive on the defensive end. Offensively, Rob has the presence and the body to gain a positional advantage on his opponents. Rob will work nicely with returning Conference Carolinas top shot blocker 6'11'' Silvere Aluko
