Coger Inks to Ole Miss

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear Community College sophomore Tyrek Coger became the 11th player under Coach Ryan Mantlo to commit to an NCAA Division I program this week when the 6-foot, 8-inch forward committed to Ole Miss during the early signing period.

"We're really excited for Ty to get this opportunity to play in the SEC," said Mantlo, now in his ninth season as head coach of the Sea Devils. "We are so proud of his growth over the past year and expect big things from him this season. We're look forward to watching him play against the best in the country next year. "

Ole Miss Head Coach Andy Kennedy announced a five-man signing class on Wednesday, including Coger, who signed a national letter of intent to join the Rebels for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Coger is ranked as the No. 18 junior college prospect in the nation by 247Sports and averaging 12.0 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this season, while shooting 64 percent from the floor. A Raleigh, North Carolina native, Coger originally committed to Missouri as a four-star high school prospect out of Word of God Christian Academy in 2012.

"Ty is a big body that really understands how to play block to block," Kennedy said. "He uses his body to create angles inside to score and he rebounds his area efficiently. Ty has good length and hands, which will allow him to complement our front court next season."

Ole Miss punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons in 2014-15 and knocked off BYU in the second round.
