Cape Fear Cruises Past USC Salkehatchie

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College men's basketball team opened the final month of the regular season with an emphatic 90-49 victory against USC-Salkehatchie at the Schwartz Center on Wednesday night.

The Sea Devils have now 30 consecutive games on their home floor as five players finished in double digits. Tyrek Coger led all scorers with 16 points, while T.J. Evans chipped in with 14.

"I was very impressed with our defensive intensity tonight," said CFCC Coach Ryan Mantlo. "That is the key if we are going to make a run in March."

Alonzo Tyson also added 13 points, DeVarte Watson finished with 12 points, and Michael Chambers added 10 points for Cape Fear, who improved to 5-0 in conference and 20-5 overall.

Cape Fear is riding an 11-game win streak into an important three-game road trip beginning on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Spartanburg Methodist.
