WILMINGTON, NC --- The Sea Devil Men's Basketball program will look to bounce back and pick up thier first Region 10 Conference win on Friday evening when they host the Trojans of Fayetteville Tech Community College.
Cape Fear will look to bounce back after falling (72-78) on the road versus Richard Bland College in their last outing; the Sea Devils were led by strong performances from sophomores Trae Bryant and Jacque Brown. Bryant, finished as the team's leading scorer with 20 points (added 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals), and Brown finished as the second highest scorer with 13 points (added 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals).
"Get an early start and maintain energy for 40 minutes," said Head Coach Ryan Mantlo when asked what the biggest key would be leading up to Friday's contest against Fayetteville Tech.
The Sea Devils' enter Friday's contest averaging 108.0 points/game at home inside the Schwartz Center, while opponents are averaging 83.7 points/game.
"Parrish Tinsley, has really stepped up and is becoming a bigtime scoring threat down low," added Mantlo when asked who has been one player who has stood out this week during practice.
Tinsley, the (6'9"/260) RS Freshman center out of Garner, NC, has averaged 6.8 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game on 82.4% shooting from the field in his five game appearances this season. Tinsley's best performance came in Cape Fear's (123-77) home victory over Wake Tech Community College, when he recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds on 71.4 FG% in only 7 minutes played.
"We still don't have an identity. We are very talented however we get too complacent at times," Mantlo said in his closing statements leading up to the match-up on Friday.
The Sea Devils have six players averaging double-double points per game scoring average, with sophomore PG Jacque Brown leading the way at 15.7ppg, and freshman guard Trevor Willis averaging 10.0ppg.
Tip-Off for Friday's contest versus Fayetteville Tech Community College is scheduled for 6pm (EST) from the Schwartz Center.
