WILMINGTON, NC --- The Sea Devil Men's Basketball program will hit the hardwood for the first time in 2017 since their last outing came in a (99-91) victory over Bryant & Stratton (VA) College in Day 3 of the Brunswick CC Christmas Classic back on December 17, 2016.
Cape Fear enters Wednesday evening's game riding an eight-game winning streak, with their last loss coming on November 19, 2016, in a (72-78) defeat at Richard Bland College. During the Sea Devils' active win streak, they have outscored their opponents (745-663), while scoring over 100 points in three of the games, with the highest being 129 points scored in their (129-80) home victory over Fayetteville Tech Community College.
"We are in a great spot right now, just have to continue to get better daily," said Sea Devil Men's Basketball head coach Ryan Mantlo in his opening pre-game presser comments.
Wednesday's match-up versus Port City Prep will be the third all-time meeting between the two schools, with Cape Fear winning the two previous match-ups (121-86) on January 9, 2016, and (121-46) on November 1, 2014.
"We must come out of the break strong and play clean," added Mantlo in his pre-game presser comments when asked to speak on what the biggest keys to the game will be.
"[Jacque Brown] has been great, look for him to continue his strong performance," added Mantlo in his pre-game presser when asked about who has stood out leading up to Wednesday's match-up.
Following Wednesday's game against Port City Prep, the Sea Devils will hit the road for a Region 10 Conference match-up versus Denmark Tech College on Saturday, January 14; tip-off is scheduled for 3pm (EST).
The Sea Devils will play their next home game on "MLK Celebration Day" on Monday, January 16, at 2pm (EST) vs Johnston Community College.
