Americus, GA - Cape Fear men's basketball lost a close game to Gordon State College, 67-66, in the first game of the South Georgia Tech Classic.
Sophomore Zaqwaun Matthews led the Sea Devils with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman Donte Tatum scored 10 points and 10 rebounds.
"We played very hard today against a tough team in a neutral environment," said assistant coach Mark Lane. "We have to learn how to be more consistent and take away from this experience."
Despite the loss, coach Lane sees an opportunity to rebound in tomorrow's game.
"Tomorrow is another day and an opportunity to get better. I'm proud of my team battling all the way to the end."
The Sea Devils drop to 2-3 on the season. They play tomorrow against South Georgia Tech at 3:00 p.m.
