Sea Devils Fall in Overtime to Spartanburg

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's basketball fell short against Spartanburg Methodist, 80-77.

With the game tied at 77-77, the Pioneers hit a 3-pointer to win at the buzzer. This is the third straight game the Sea Devils have lost at the buzzer.

"We are still trying to figure how to fully trust each other," said head coach Ryan Mantlo. "We are extremely close to turning the final corner but we must get better daily and start to win close games."

Zaqwaun Matthews led the Sea Devils with 16 points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Kwe Parker had 13 points and a team-high six assists.

Cape Fear drops to 15-10 overall and 3-5 in conference. They sit in fifth place in Region 10 standings.

The team will hit the road on Wednesday, February 21st, facing off against Caldwell Community College at 6:00 p.m.
