Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's basketball defeated Denmark Technical College, 66-65, in the first round of the Region 10 conference tournament.
Three Sea Devils scored in double figures, including Kwe Parker, who had a team high 13 points, along with 12 points from Zaqwaun Matthews, and 11 from Eric Fox.
While it was a close game, head coach Ryan Mantlo was only worried about advancing to the next round.
"At this time it is all about surviving and advancing. I'm very proud of the grit we showed tonight," said coach Mantlo.
Cape Fear improves to 19-11 on the season. With the win, they advance to the Region 10 conference semifinals in Pinehurst, NC, to face off against top seeded Spartanburg Methodist. The two teams split the season series with Spartanburg beating Cape Fear at home, 81-78, and Cape Fear winning most recently on the road, 70-68.
The game is scheduled for Friday, March 9th, at 4:00 p.m.
