Sea Devils Knock Out First Conference Win

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's basketball defeated conference opponent Richard Bland College 78-62 on Wednesday.

The Sea Devils were led by JJ Miles, who scored a season high 28 points. Quate McKinzie finished with 13, Trayvon Ferrell scored 12, and Donte Tatum added 10.

While it was a double digit victory for Cape Fear, head coach Ryan Mantlo credits his team's defense for limiting Richard Bland's scoring chances, particularly when Cape Fear wasn't shooting the ball well.

"We struggled a little again offensively; however, I was very proud of our defensive effort," said coach Mantlo. "If we can continue to get better defensively we will be a really hard matchup come March because we are too talented for our offense not to take off soon."

The Sea Devils improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Their next game is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th, where they will take on Spartanburg Methodist on the road at 4:00 p.m.
