Mark Lane signed on as Head Coach of the Sea Devils Men's Basketball team in 2019 after serving as the Associate Head Coach to now Athletic Director Ryan Mantlo in 2018. Before his Associate Head Coach role, Coach Lane spent eight seasons as the Assistant Coach where he was instrumental in helping the Sea Devils to three Region 10 Tournament Championships, three Regular Season titles, four National Tournament appearances along with an eighth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas in 2010-11.

Coach Lane spent the 2014-15 season at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. Before his stint at Hill College, Lane was an assistant coach at Mars Hill University for two seasons. During the 2013-14 season, Lane was influential in helping Mars Hill in their highlighted defeat of Division I Furman University. Coach Lane also served as an assistant at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa (2007-08) and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (2006-07).

Lane played collegiate basketball at Minot State University - Bottineau where he earned his Associates Degree before completing his Bachelor's in Kinesiology at the University of Windsor. Following his collegiate career, Lane continued his career overseas. He first stepped onto the court with the Pertemps Birmingham Bullets in Birmingham, England before he headed to Denmark to play for Horsens IC. While in Denmark, Mark was a gold medalist recipient and was selected to the All-Bosman team. In addition to his playing and coaching experience, Coach Lane has worked several university basketball camps at Michigan State, Michigan, Marquette, Duke, and North Carolina.

Coach Lane's favorite Sea Devil memory was during the 2022-23 season when his team marched through the Region 10 Tournament and earned a bid to the NJCAA DI National Tournament. This marked Lane's sixth trip to the National Tournament. 

Lane currently resides in Wilmington, NC with his wife Shinhae, dog Piper, and beautiful daughter Laylah.
