Mason Mullins joined the Sea Devils Men's Basketball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach in 2018 and brings with him several years of experience. Prior to Cape Fear Mullins spent one and a half seasons at the University of Mount Olive as an assistant coach and spent two seasons at UNC Greensboro as a Graduate Assistant with their Men's Basketball program. While at UNCG Mullins was responsible for numerous activities leading to the success of the Spartans two 25+ win seasons, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. He also assisted the team to a No.1 overall seed in the NIT in 2019 after breaking the school record for most wins in a season (29). The Spartans for a second-year in a row had the conference defensive player of the year, five all-conference selections, and six all-tournament selections last season.

Before his two year stint at UNC Greensboro, Mullins was an assistant coach with Pitt Community College for two years. While at PCC Mullins was responsible for recruiting and scouting, implementing strategic plans, and conducting film sessions. He organized the teams pregame routine, coordinated travel logistics, and communicated with various departments across campus about happenings with the team. Mullins assisted the team to two conference tournament appearances and a 20+ win season in 2016. The Bulldogs finished top-4 in the NJCAA Region 10 conference tournament, had three Region-10 All-Conference honorees, a Region 10 Player of the Year (2017), and an NJCAA All-American (2017).

Mullins earned his B.S from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where he was a student assistant for the men's basketball team for four years. At UNCP, Mullins coordinated the logistics of ordering team apparel and gear, scouted the competition and created comprehensive scouting reports, and directed film and media operations for the basketball operations.

Coach Mullins' favorite Sea Devil memory is attending Graduation every year and watching student-athletes continue their playing careers at 4 year programs.
