Leesburg, VA - The Sea Devils outscored its opponents 10-0 in the weekend trip to Virginia as the CFCC men's soccer team defeated Northern Virginia CC and Howard CC.

On Friday, Nate Pace opened the scoring in the 26th minute and the Sea Devils never looked back. Brian Pinder tallied twice in his first collegiate soccer game and five others found the back of the net in the win.

"It was a great way to kick off the regular season," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We played really well in some very wet and sloppy conditions. Nova played us well, especially the first 25 minutes, but we capitalized on our chances. It was a good overall team performance."

CFCC wrapped up the weekend with a 2-0 shutout over Howard.

Nate Pace put the Sea Devils up 1-0 in the 31st minute on a penalty kick and Kipp Carriker added his second goal off the year midway through the second half off a header from a Myles Strickland corner kick.

Dakota Moore had three saves in the shutout.

"We had some really strong play on the backline over the weekend from Felix Liciero, Sebastion Vallejo, David Segura and Brett Council," said Libert. "It was a tough test to start the season with back-to-back games and Howard came at us on Sunday. We had to work full 90 minutes and I'm proud of our boys."

Cape Fear returns to the pitch at home against Hagerstown CC on Saturday, Aug. 30.
