Pioneers Hold Off Sea Devils

Spartanburg, SC - With the game tied at one heading into the second half Spartanburg Methodist used three unanswered goals to hold off Cape Fear 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.

"It's always tough to play on the road always, but I'm proud of my boys for leaving it on the field," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We need to continue our training and keep putting in the effort and the results will come."

The Sea Devils equalized just before half in the 43rd minute when CJ Morales followed up on a Tyus Lopez shot off the post.

Spartanburg responded with three scores in a 15 minute span to pull ahead for good until Cape Fear found the back of the net in the 78th minute off a Brian Pinder goal on a cross from David Segura.

Cape Fear fell to 3-7 in conference and 7-8 overall heading into a road game at Patrick Henry CC on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
