Cape Fear Ties USC Salkehatchie

Wilmington, NC - Region 10 play continued Saturday afternoon at CFCC North Campus as Cape Fear and USC-Salkehatchie played to a 1-1 draw.

The Sea Devils opened the scoring with an early goal in the ninth minute when Brian Pinder found the back of the net after creating a turnover from the last line of defense.

"The team played very well today and came out with a lot of energy," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "It's always big to get the early lead, but we did not put away our chances to win the game and settled for the tie."

USC-Salkehatchie equalized in the 57th, but Cape Fear had several other opportunities in regulation and double overtime with a 17-7 shot advantage in the match. 

Kipp Carricker thought he may have given the Sea Devils a big conference win in the final minute, but his strike hit the post to keep the game level at one-all.

With two games to go in the regular season Cape Fear is 3-8-1 in conference and 7-9-1 overall. The Sea Devils play in their final road game of the year against Richard Bland College on Tuesday, Oct. 21, followed by the regular season finale at home on Sunday. Oct. 26.
