Cape Fear Sweeps Weekend

Leesburg, VA - Cape Fear Community College picked up its second result in as many days following a 2-1 victory over Northern Virginia Community College to close a brief two match road swing on Sunday.

Andrew Goodman scored both goals in the win, including the game-winner in the 86th minute off an assist by Vlyle Walker. The Sea Devils outshot Northern Virginia 18-5, but surrendered the equalizer in the 27th minute to level the match 1-1.

"It's always tough to play back to back days especially on two very hot days," said CFCC Coach Chris Libert. "We made it a bit tough on ourselves by missing a few easy ones, but finished strong in the end and put the one away that counted.

Goodman broke the scoreless game in the 24th minute on a pass from Stefano Proiette-Fehrenbac, while Connor Belk made four saves.

Cape Fear improved to 3-0-0 in non-conference play and continue a three-game road trip in their Region 10 opener at USC-Lancaster on Thursday, September 3
