Wake Tech defeats Cape Fear

Raleigh, NC - The Cape Fear Men's Soccer team fought hard, but fell short against Wake Tech Community College, losing 2-0. Both goals were scored by Jean Oliva.

"We're in a rough spot with injuries," Head Coach C.W. Ponton said after the game. "We need to have a next man up personality to win and hold that starting spot."

Despite the loss, Coach Ponton was pleased with freshman midfielder Alfredo Martinez, whose movement off the ball contributed to the team's attack. Along with Martinez, Coach Ponton also noted the play of sophomore defender Andrew Barton, who had two scoring chances in the second half.

Additionally, Ponton praised the second half play of freshman goalkeeper Martin Zambrano, who was subbed on at halftime, and made three saves to keep a clean sheet in the second half.

With the loss, the Sea Devils fall to 1-2 on the season. Cape Fear Men's Soccer will play again this Saturday, September 10th at 4 pm at Legion Stadium
