Spartanburg Methodist Defeats Cape Fear

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear men's soccer lost 5-0 to Spartanburg Methodist on Wednesday.

Wednesday's game was the Sea Devils' fifth game in seven days. As head coach C.W. Ponton explained after the game, the high number of games in a short period of time had an effect on the team's performance.

"What can I say?" said Ponton. "I can't be mad at them when they don't have any legs left. People underestimate how much of an impact that has on you physically and mentally. This was definitely our worst game of the season. We have two games to bounce back to keep our playoff hopes alive."

Cape Fear falls to 6-6-1 on the season and in conference play. Their next game is on the road against Louisburg, the top ranked team in Region 10. The game is scheduled for Thursday, October 18th at 4:00 p.m.
