Men's Soccer Loses in Double Overtime

Spartanburg, SC - Men's soccer loses 3-2 in double overtime against Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday.

The Sea Devils have had a rough go around, losing in overtime in their last two games. Even though they seem to be struggling, individual players keep standing out on the field. Travis Cotton scored his second goal of the season with a left footed line drive near the post on their keeper. Jair Mondragon scored another header on the season getting up over the Spartanburg Methodist defense from a delivery from Justin Lashin.

Coach C.W Ponton says "0-0 at half and up 2-0...Then 2-2 at the end of regulation. Something is going to have to change. There has to be a sense of urgency in everything we do and for the second straight game we failed to have that urgency and lost in overtime. It's another 3 points dropped. While I was proud of the performance after Richard Bland, today I'm disappointed. We had the game in our hands and we clearly didn't want it bad enough. Something is going to change".

The Sea Devils are now 0-2 in conference play and 1-2 on the season.

They look to get back in the winning column as they play Southwest Virginia on Saturday, September 21st.  Kick off is set for 12 noon at Legion Stadium.
