Men's Soccer Loses to Wake Tech

Wilmington, NC - Men's soccer loses to conference opponent Wake Tech Community College 4-1.

It was a slow game all around the for the Sea Devils. The lone goal of the game was scored off a free kick by Travis Cotton. Cotton helped the team by building plays in transition which eventually led to his free kick. Quavon White and TJ Anttila both worked extremely hard to pressure the opponents on the field. Sadly, the Eagles had the upper hand by scoring four goals.

Coach C.W Ponton says "This was our chance at going over .500 on the season. I'm very disappointed in my teams second half performance. We went into halftime feeling very confident, but in the second half the lack of effort was horrible, we didn't challenge 50/50s, we didn't move off the ball offensively as planned, we became overly emotional rather than trying to fix the issues in a mature manner, and it lead to our defeat. We're going to rest, watch the film, and learn from our mistakes. I really do have a great bunch of guys and I have complete confidence we can still dominate this season, but it can only be done one day at a time".

The Sea Devils are now 1-3 in conference play and 2-3 on the season.

They look to get back in the win column as they take on USC Sumter in conference play Saturday, September 28th at 5pm. This match will be played in front of home crowed at Legion Stadium.
