Wilmington, NC - Mens soccer defeated conference opponent USC Lancaster 5-1 in front of a home crowd.

Multiple Sea Devils saw action on the offensive side of the field. Jair Mondragon had two goals on the day. Mondragon's second goal was assisted by Kobe Hepburn who had an extremely high work rate down the left side of the field. Travis Cotton helped control play on the field while also chipping the keeper from 45 yards out! Marcos Reyes had an impressive game as he assisted both Raul Venegas on Cape Fears first goal and Chase Lucas on Cape Fears last goal.

Coach C.W Ponton says ""we started off great, but about halfway through the first half we died off some and only went into halftime up 1-0. We came out the second half and controlled the rest of the game. While I would have liked the clean sheet, flukes happen. I'm pleased with the performance but am still waiting for my guys to be a 90-minute squad rather than a 70-minute squad. It's a big step in the right direction".

The Sea Devils are now 5-4 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.

Their next game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th as they travel to Sumter, SC to take on USC Sumter. Kick-off is set for 3:30 as the Sea Devils look to keep their winning streak alive.
