Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College Athletic Director Robert McGee has named Chris Harris as the next Head Women's Basketball Coach at CFCC.

Harris enters his nineteenth season in college coaching, and twentieth overall. He arrives at CFCC after spending the 2014-15 campaign as an assistant coach at Presbyterian College, an NCAA I Division Institution in Clinton, SC. Coach Harris helped guide the Blue Hose to a 16-15 record and quarterfinal appearance in the Big South Tournament.

Cape Fear is a special place, and my wife and I are looking forward to joining the Wilmington community."
Prior to Presbyterian, Coach Harris roamed the sidelines in 2013-2014 at Kenwood High School in Clarksville, Tenn., where he helped the Knights to their highest district finish and tournament seed in the history of the school.
Prior to Kenwood, Harris completed one of the most successful four year runs in the history of Volunteer State Community College. His four year record of 82-29 included three seasons of at least 20 wins, culminating into a NJCAA National Tournament appearance in 2013. The appearance marked only the third in school history and first since 1993. During the 2012-2013 and 2011-2012 seasons, Volunteer State finished ranked in the NJCAA Top 25 academically, as well.
Before Volunteer State, Harris served as the recruiting coordinator at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was instrumental in bringing in one of the most highly-touted recruiting classes in the program's history. The 2008-09 recruiting class earned the No. 53 ranking in the nation and No. 1 in the Ohio Valley Conference by the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. He also served on the 2007-2008 SEMO team that won its third straight Ohio Valley Conference championship.
Harris spent two seasons as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Martin Methodist College, an NAIA school located in Pulaski, Tenn., before arriving in Cape Girardeau. He helped guide Martin Methodist College to a record for the most victories in program history with a 19-13 record to go along with an appearance in the TranSouth Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.
Since 1998, Harris has been the head coach at Houston Baptist, Ranger College, Connors State College and Volunteer State Community College. He has also been an assistant at New Mexico State, University of Alabama- Huntsville, Martin Methodist and Southeast Missouri State.
The Nashville, Tenn., native graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2000. He is married to the former Steffanie McKinney of Greenbrier, Tenn. They reside in Wilmington, NC with their dog, Alley Hoops.
