Women's Basketball Cruises Past Wake Tech

Wilmington, NC - The Cape Fear Community College women's basketball team picked up right where they left off following the holiday break as the Sea Devils cruised to a 76-44 victory over Wake Tech at the Schwartz Center on Wednesday night.

Playing for the first time in nearly three weeks, Cape Fear showed a little rust, but improved to 10-1 overall with the result.

"We played an ugly game," said CFCC Coach Chris Harris. "We didn't bring the effort tonight that we have been used too. We will chalk this one up to being off for so long and looking forward to getting back to practice tomorrow."

Monica Alexander had a team-high 13 points for the Sea Devils, who grabbed their 10th straight win.

Cape Fear (2-1, 10-1) heads into another week of practice at No. 16 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Top 20 poll. They return to conference play against Lenoir Community College on Thursday, Jan. 14.
