Louisburg, NC - Two nationally ranked opponents clashed on Saturday afternoon and the Cape Fear Community College women's basketball team extended its win streak to 12 straight as the Sea Devils picked up a 71-65 win over No. 19 Louisburg College.
"We had a great effort today, especially in our half-court defense," said CFCC Coach Matt Harris. "I thought the offense rushed a few things, but overall happy to see a couple of our post players step up in scoring."
Listed at No. 15 in this week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Top 20 poll, Cape Fear improved to 4-1 in league play and 12-1 overall. Jasmine Brown led all scorers with 17 points.
The Sea Devils carried a four-point lead after the opening 10 minutes of action and took a double-digit advantage into the break. Brown helped Cape Fear hold serve to begin the second half as the Sea Devils were in front 58-43 headed into the final frame.
Cape Fear has a quick turnaround and closes the weekend road trip at Catawba Valley on Sunday.
