Martinsville, VA - Freshman Desaree Green led all scorers with 23 points as No. 12 Cape Fear Community College ran away from Patrick Henry Community College 91-49 in women's basketball action in Martinsville, Virginia, on Sunday.
"It's nice to see our team is becoming committed to being inside-out oriented on the offensive end," said CFCC Coach Chris Harris. "We had a big run in the second quarter to extend the lead heading into the second half. We haven't played real well in Sunday games this season and glad we were able to close out the weekend with a win."
Green put in back-to-back 20-plus point performances during the brief two-game road swing. The first-year forward was averaging 8.8 points per game heading into the weekend.
With seven regular season games remaining, the Sea Devils move into the month of February ranked 12th nationally in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Top 20 poll. Cape Fear is riding a 17 game winning streak, with a 9-1 mark in conference.
The Sea Devils play just two more home games this year and return to the Schwartz Center to host Patrick Henry CC on Saturday, Feb. 6.
