CFCC Women Extend Season in Consolation Bracket

Overlank Park, KS - The Cape Fear Community College women's basketball team will live to see one final game at the National Junior College Division II Championship following a 109-99 bounce back victory against North Iowa Area Community College in Overland Park, Kansas on Thursday.

Desaree Green went 11 of 20 from the field and 9 for 12 from the free throw line to score a game high 31 points. Six different players recorded double figures for the Sea Devils. Jasmine Brown added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Cape Fear carried a two-point edge after the opening 10 minutes and stretched the cushion 50-42 at the break. Chrystall Jerome also had double-double with 16 points and 19 assists.

The Sea Devils shot 53.8 percent from the field and knocked down 10 treys in the ballgame. Monica Alexander led the way beyond the arc, with three makes from long range.

After improving to 27-2 overall this season, Cape Fear heads to the NJCAA Division II fifth place game on Saturday, March 19th.
