Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear Community College was shutout 1-0 by Howard Community College in Women's Soccer action at the CFCC North Campus on Friday afternoon.
Howard scored 20 minutes into the match with a low shot from 18 yards out. CFCC goal keepers Blakeney Blair and Melissa Cruz combined for eight saves as the Sea Devils trailed 10-8 in shots.
"It's obviously not the result we were working towards," said CFCC First-year Coach Ryan Deppa. "Both teams worked hard in its opener. Howard created a great chance and scored a great goal. They are a well-coached team. I'm confident will continue to work to get better as I have faith in our players."
The Sea Devils dropped to 0-1 on the year and play host to Oxford Emory on Sunday, August 30.
