Sea Devils Notch First Win

Raleigh, NC - Cape Fear Community College picked up its first result of the year in emphatic fashion on Thursday night as the Sea Devils blew past Wake Teach 10-1 in women's soccer action.

Freshman Alyssa Coustenis scored a first half hat trick, while Gabby Serpa tallied twice in the victory. Other Sea Devils to score their first goals of the season included Raime Cooper, Jenna Pecorini and Morgan Purcell, who notched a blistering goal from 15 yards out. Rachael Handy also found the back of the net after dribbling through the Wake Tech backs to slot a nice goal in the side netting. Returning center back Madison Manship finished the scoring with a strong goal from 35 yards out and goal keeper Melissa Cruz made one save.

"It was good for us to just get out and work to earn a win," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. "It was nice to see the kids smiling and joking with each other after the win. To have so many players involved in helping us create some very dynamic scoring chances was great to see."

Cape Fear improved to 1-2 overall and play host Patrick Henry on Thursday, September 10.
