Sea Devils Stumble Against USC Lancaster

Wilmington, NC - USC-Lancaster erupted for three scores to erase a one goal deficit and hand Cape Fear Community College a 3-1 setback in women's soccer on Saturday.

Jenna Pecorini scored a direct kick from the left side of the 18 yard box six minutes into the second half to give the Sea Devils a 1-0 lead. However, Lancaster answered with three goals over the next 12 minutes of action to grab the advantage.

"We don't have much time to dwell on the loss," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. "We're back on the field Sunday to host Patrick Henry and need to work to get a positive response after today's performance. Hat's off to USC Lancaster for earning the win."

With three minutes remaining in the match, Madison Manship scored a nice goal over the head of the keeper off an assist from Vivian Fernandez. Emily Valiente recorded seven saves for Cape Fear.

The Sea Devils saw their three-game winning streak come to a close, dropping to 8-1 in league play and 8-5 overall. Cape Fear hosts Patrick Henry Community College at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
