Patrick Henry Tops Sea Devils

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear Community College struck first, but Patrick Henry Community College tied the match just before the break and scored two goals over the final 45 minutes to hand the Sea Devils a 3-1 setback in women's soccer on Sunday afternoon.

"We lost two winnable games this weekend," said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. "Our six losses are all on weekend games and we're working to find a solution to help us come in more rested and focused so we have an edge on the weekends moving forward."

Katie Causey scored an unassisted goal off a corner kick 37 minutes into the contest to give Cape Fear a 1-0 lead until Patrick Henry equalized to close the first period tied one-all. Emily Valiente recorded two saves for the Sea Devils, who fell to 8-2 in conference and 8-6 overall.

"I have to do a better job as their coach," Deppa added. "Patrick Henry found a way to get it done today and that's on me."

Cape Fear has a week of practice to get things ironed out before wrapping a three-game home stand against Louisburg College on Saturday, Oct. 24.
