CFCC Women's Soccer Continues Shutout Streak

Lancaster, SC - The Cape Fear women's soccer team scored three goals in the second half in route to a 3-0 victory over USC Lancaster to improve to 7-0 on the season. Alyssa Coustenis scored a brace, while Jenna Pecorini scored the team's other goal.

After a scoreless first half, the Sea Devils responded well in the second. "[It] was a bit of a gut check for us," said head coach Ryan Deppa. "The girls responded in a positive way to take care of the game after the break."

Coustenis would score the team's first goal just after halftime in 47th minute, off an assist from Alaina Capps.

The game would remain at 1-0 for much of the half, until the Sea Devils drew a foul in the box in the 73rd minute. Pecorini would bury the penalty kick, giving them a 2-0 lead.

The team's final goal would come in the 80th minute, as Coustenis would get her second of the game off an assist from Sierra Raynor.

In addition to the goals, goalkeepers Kenedy Green and Elizabeth "Alley" Ethridge split the shutout. With today's shutout, the Sea Devils have still not allowed a goal all season.

Deppa was pleased with the result. "[It] was a good road win for us. Our back line continues to hold it down and help us on both sides of the ball."

Following this result, the Sea Devils will get a week off before they return to action next Wednesday, September 28th, as they take on Louisburg College on the road at 5 p.m.
