WILMINGTON, NC - The Sea Devil Women's Soccer program returns to the pitch on the road this Wednesday evening versus Region 10 Conference opponent, Louisburg College at 4:15pm (EST) from Ronald R. May Field.
Cape Fear enters the game putting their undefeated record 7-0, overall and 4-0 in conference once again on the line as the 2016-2017 season continues.
The Sea Devils led by sophomore forward Alyssa Coustenis's have stayed strong through seven games (9G, 2A, 20 PTS, 17 SOG (.515 SOG%). The freshmen trio of Janessa Annis, Alaina Capps, and Sierra Raynor, combined for (15G, 13A, 43 PTS, 48 SOG (.551 SOG%), have also helped gain the team national attention among the NJCAA Division I Top 20 Polls.
Cape Fear now the #12 team in the country, climbed spots this week after they were previously ranked as the #14 team in the country in the September 20th poll. The Sea Devils were first ranked as the #17 team in the country in the September 13th NJCAA Division I Top 20 Polls when the team was (4-0) at that point in the season.
Cape Fear has yet to allow a goal this season in their seven games played. In the span of 630:00 minutes played CFCC has scored 32 goals on offense (a season high of 11 goals scored vs. USC Salkehatchie in a home victory on Saturday, September 10).
Nine players have recorded at least one or more goals, 14 players have recorded at least one or more points, and 11 players have at least one or more assists this season.
As for their opponent, Louisburg College, they enter the game coming off a (1-2) on the road defeat against Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday, September 24. The Hurricanes' lone goal came in the game's 44th minute when freshman defender Courtney Senter scored. The loss to Spartanburg Methodist is their second straight defeat this season, and dropping them to (0-3) on the road.
Louisburg College is (5-3, (3-3 in Region 10 Conference)) and previously played against the Sea Devils on September 14, and suffered a (0-2) road defeat.
