Sea Devils Dominate the Field Winning 12-0

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear women's soccer won its first home game of the season, defeating Louisburg College 12-0.

Four players -- Carly Higgins, Kaitlin Plienis, Karina Carbajal, and Trinity Davis -- scored two goals, while Madison Bolen, Kaila Acuna, Dani Donovan, and Esperanza McKay each scored one.

The Sea Devils got on the scoresheet early when Plienis scored off an assist from Donovan in the 4th minute. Cape Fear then scored three goals in four minutes, as Davis scored her first of two in the 11th, while Higgins scored both of hers in the 12th and 15th minutes.

Cape Fear's fourth came in the 23rd minute, as Anderson O'Neal found Bolen for her only goal.

The team scored three more goals before halftime, with Carbajal scoring in the 30th, Donovan in the 36th, and Acuna a minute later.

The Sea Devils didn't slow down after halftime, either, as McKay grabbed her only goal two minutes into the half, followed by Davis a minute later.

Plienis grabbed her second goal in the 52nd minute, while Carbajal made it 12-0 in the 79th.

Tallison Brainard led the team in assists with three, while Higgins added two. Four other players tallied an assist as well.

Bolen, along with C.J. Garvey, helped secure the shutout as well, as the two split time at goalkeeper.

Head coach Ryan Deppa was happy to see multiple goalscorers and for his team to get their first action playing at home.

"It is nice to see the scoring so spread out but even better was our kids being able to play at home tonight," said Deppa. "We will get back to work tomorrow and continue to prepare for a very challenging weekend, as we host the 2018 CFCC Port City Classic."

The CFCC Port City Classic starts on Saturday, as the Sea Devils take on USC Salkehatchie at 1:00 p.m.

Cape Fear improves to 3-1 on the season with the win over Louisburg.
