Sea Devils Earn Region 10 Conference Champs

Allendale, SC - Cape Fear women's soccer defeated USC Salkehatchie, 4-0, on Sunday.

Kaitlin Plienis scored one goal and recorded three assists, while Esperanza McKay, Tallison Brainard, and Samantha Iorio each added a goal each.

Sunday's win capped off an incredible week of games for the Sea Devils. The team played six games in seven days, starting and ending the stretch on the road. During this run, Cape Fear finished 5-0-1, scoring 28 goals and only giving up one.

Goalkeeper C.J Garvey was instrumental in the team's success, earning five shutouts to bring the team's total to 14 on the season.

It was a stretch that earned Cape Fear another Region 10 regular season title.

"To see this team be the regular season Region 10 conference champions with the challenges they have had to face and adapt to during a very unique season," said head coach Ryan Deppa, "[and it] says so much about this team." "What I can tell you is this. The freshman have stepped up. The transfers have stepped up. The sophomores have stepped up. They will be rested and ready to go for the Region 10 Tournament next weekend in Allendale, SC."

The Sea Devils improved to 14-1-1 on the season. They will play in the Region 10 tournament, scheduled for next weekend. The time and opponent are to be determined.
