Women's Soccer Advances to Championship Game

Allendale, SC - Cape Fear women's soccer defeated Wake Tech Community College 8-0 on Saturday in the Conference Semi-Finals of the Region 10 Tournament.

The Sea Devils took a 3-0 lead into halftime, with Tallison Brainard, Trinity Davis, and Sally Yamada each scoring.

The five goals in the second half came courtesy of Dani Donovan, Esperanza McKay, Kaitlin Plienis, and Skyler Giolitti, who scored the game's final two goals.

Goalkeeper C.J Garvey, who was recently named Region 10 Player of the Week, made three saves to earn another shutout.

The team did a good job doing what they do," said head coach Ryan Deppa. "They defend well as a team, and score by committee. They kept composure, supported each other, and showed overall improvement from a week ago."

Coach Deppa is excited for his team to play in another Region 10 Championship game.

"Most [players] never get the experience to play in a college championship, and we are excited for the opportunity," said Deppa.

Cape Fear improves to 15-1-1 overall and 11-0-1 in conference play.

The championship game will be played on Sunday, October 28th at 12:00 p.m. against Spartanburg Methodist.
