Women’s Soccer Gets Shutout Win

Wilmington, NC- Cape Fear Women's Soccer gets shutout win 7-0 in the season home opener against Richard Bland College.

Three different Sea Devils scored in the first half of the game. Abbey Cowan scored the first goal of the game off an assist from freshman Maggie Hall. The second goal of the half was scored by Silken Carlton off an assist by freshman Lina Vasquez. The final goal of the first half came off an assist by sophomore Trinity Davis and was netted in the goal by Jayana Nicholson.

As the second half got underway Abbey Cowan converted for her second goal of the day on an assist from sophomore Esperanza McKay. Sidney Corbin had a sensational game as she converted for two headers off of corner kicks from Maggie Hall. And Maggie Hall scored a goal of her own when she was able to strike a goal on her own corner kick. De'Sheryl Hill and Samantha Armstrong combined for two saves in goal as they helped the Sea Devils to a shutout performance.

Coach Ryan Deppa says, "It was nice for the team to open the home season with a shutout."

The lady Sea Devils improve to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.

Their next game is scheduled for Saturday September 14th at Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina. The game will begin at 12:30 as the Sea Devils look to get their 4th conference win of the season.
