Raleigh, NC (September 28th, 2023) - Cape Fear Women's Soccer traveled to Raleigh, NC, and defeated the Wake Tech Eagles: further solidifying their spot at the top of the Region 10 Conference with a 4-0 conference record.
The first goal of the match came from Lauren Laux in the third minute. The Sea Devils came out of the gate strong - completely controlling possession and putting away 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of play. Although Wake Tech answered with one goal a few minutes after the third Sea Devil goal, the Sea Devils maintained their composure as the rest of the half played out scoreless from both teams.
Cape Fear returned to the pitch in the second half and took over possession once again to finish the match strong. The Sea Devils' precise ball movement in the midfield and tactful execution on their offensive end earned them 3 more goals to secure their win over the Eagles.
Halie Blizzard earned 1 goal and 2 assists, which aided Maya McDonald in 2 out of her 3 goals for the Sea Devils. Kailie Ross also put a goal on the scoresheet in the second half of gameplay.
"Teamwork and ball control was the name of the game today," says Head Coach C.W. Ponton. "With each allowed goal we bounced right back. Everything we practiced leading up to today's game was implemented."
The Sea Devils will continue play on the road as they travel to Louisburg, NC to take on the Louisburg Hurricanes on Wednesday, October 4th at 3 PM.
