Cape Fear Captures Four of Five on Road

Hickory, NC - The Cape Fear Community College volleyball team put in a strong effort over the weekend to clinch four of five matches on a trip to the western part of the state.

Lydia Smith and Brittani Jefferson set the tone on Friday night as the two attackers combined for 18 kills in a 3-0 sweep over Pitt Community College. Megan Thomas chip in with 18 assists for the Lady Sea Devils.

"We had a very solid performance to open the weekend," said CFCC Coach Emily Coleman. "We played very clean volleyball and an excellent job passing."

On Saturday, CFCC travelled to Catawba Valley CC for the Region 10 extravaganza and a full day of volleyball as the Sea Devils did not disappoint. Cape Fear rallied from an early 3-0 setback against Catawba Valley to pick up three straight victories to run the teams record to 9-1 on the year.

The Sea Devils cruised to wins against Surry CC, Guilford Tech and Davidson County.

With a 4-1 mark in conference play, Cape Fear (4-1, 9-1) travels to Raleigh for a date with Wake Tech on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
