Women's Volleyball Opens Season with a Split

Hickory, NC - The CFCC Women's Volleyball team split their opening two games of their season on Friday, starting with an impressive 3-0 win over conference opponent USC Salkehatchie.

The Sea Devils won each of the three games by scores of 25-5, 25-1, and 25-5. Head coach Emily Coleman was pleased with the win, stating, "We played well, and in control of our side of the court."

However, the result would not go Cape Fear's way in the second match, as they would lose 0-3 to Catawba Valley Community College by scores of 20-25, 12-25, and 13-25.

"I'm very disappointed with our lack of focus," stated Coach Coleman after the game. Despite this, Coleman found a silver lining in the loss. "We didn't show up for this match, but one positive [is] we can definitely learn a lot and refocus for tomorrow."

The Sea Devils will play two more games Saturday, starting with Surry Community College at 9:00 a.m., followed by Bryant & Stratton College at noon.
