Cape Fear’s Women's Volleyball Picks Up Two Conference Road Wins

Bolivia, NC - Cape Fear's women's volleyball team came away with two road wins on Saturday, defeating Surry Community College 3-1, and Brunswick Community College 3-0.

In the first matchup against Surry, freshman Ali Jenkins lead the team with 21 assists, while sophomore Faryn Salazar finished with 20. Sophomore Kacie Markle would record eight kills.

The Sea Devils would win the opening set by a close margin of 25-23. Surry would respond, taking the second set 22-25. Then, Cape Fear would win the last two sets, both by the score of 25-19.

"Surry always plays us tough," said head coach Emily Coleman. "We got a little sloppy and did not execute as well as we needed to, but we bounced back after they took a set from us.

Against Brunswick, freshman Payton Schoenleber led with eight kills, while Jenkins recorded 15 assists.

Coleman was happy with the way her team played together. "[It was] another good win against a solid conference team. This was a team win; we had many different players in different roles, and they all stepped up."

With both wins, the Sea Devils improve to 13-6 on the season, and 12-1 in conference.

They are scheduled to play next on Tuesday, October 18th, where they will face off against Pitt Community College at home. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
