Lady Sea Devils Come From Behind to Edge Potomac State College

Wilmington, NC - Cape Fear women's volleyball opened the season with a 3-2 victory over Potomac State College of West Virginia.

The Sea Devils started in a hole, losing the first two sets by scores of 26-24 and 25-23. The third set was close as well, but Cape Fear edged their opponent out, this time winning 25-23.

The third game victory gave the Sea Devils momentum, allowing them to take the fourth set by a score of 25-17. The fifth and final set was tighter, but Cape Fear held on to win 15-11.

"This was our first match, so I expected a little bit of a rocky start," said head coach Emily Coleman. "It wasn't pretty at the beginning, but we got it together at the end. This team definitely has some fight after being down 0-2."

Freshman Taylor Gainey led the team with 13 kills, while sophomore Ali Jenkins totaled 29 assists.

The win puts their record at 1-0 on the season.
