CFCC Volleyball Earns Clutch Win

Winterville, NC - Cape Fear women's volleyball came back from two sets down to defeat Pitt Community College 3-2 on Wednesday.

Pitt opened the match with two straight wins of 25-18 and 25-16. The Sea Devils did not give up, however, and rallied to win the final three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 15-13.

"It was fun to watch the girls come together and compete at that level," said Chris Libert Assistant Athletic Director. "It shows real character to come from two games down. We look forward to watching them continue to build off this success."

Maryellie Carpenter led the Sea Devils with 20 digs and two aces, while Lindsay Thompson followed with 17 digs and two aces. Callie Weaver finished with a team high 15 kills, while Taylor Long finished just behind her with 13 kills.

Cape Fear improves to 2-6 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. Two matches scheduled for October 11th have been postponed due to inclement weather. Their next scheduled match is Friday, October 19th, at Catawba Valley Community College. The match will start at 5:30 p.m.
