After graduating from CFCC in 2019, she transferred to Johnson C. Smith University where she continued her academic and basketball career. For the 2019-2020 season with the Golden Bulls, Kemp was the recipient of the teams Academic Award for her hard work in the classroom. Her season was unfortunately cut short because of Covid-19, but she has already begun training for her upcoming and final basketball season. She is pursuing her bachelor's degree in social work with the intentions of graduating in 2021.

She currently resides in Charlotte, NC where she is working to make connections with current social workers who have completed their master's degrees. When asked if she still keeps in contact with former teammates she said "Yes all the time! Those are my sisters". We then followed up and asked Kemp how CFCC has prepared her for future career and life choices, she said "Cape Fear Community College was very beneficial in my current success at my 4- year college. Cape Fear taught me many life lessons and made me who I am today. I found my path and my purpose while attending Cape fear and was able to have the drive to do so because of Cape Fear".

What was your most memorable moment looking back at your time at Cape Fear?
My most memorable moment .... that is a hard question. So, I have two, my first is making history for the women's basketball team at the National Tournament in March 2019. My second was being able to share my story and cape fear experience at the CFCC Gift of Education Foundation Luncheon.

If you could tell an incoming freshman one thing what would it be?
This is your first step in the path to your career, don't be afraid but attack it head on. You are stronger than you think, and you can do anything you set your mind to. These two years will fly by so have fun and trust your journey.

What is your biggest accomplishment after leaving Cape Fear? (personal or professional)
Finding my career path and my purpose in life!
