Alumni Spotlight: David Graham

Name: David Graham

Organization: United States Coast Guard

David Graham played men's soccer for fall 2016 season. During his lone season with the Sea Devils he saw action in 15 games, starting 5 of them. He graduated from CFCC in 2017 with an Associates of Science Degree in Film and Video Production.

Graham is currently stationed in New Orleans, Louisiana where he is working for the United States Coast Guard. He is an E3 (rank) working in the Aids to Navigation department in New Orleans, here he travels to different Coast Guard stations/units delivering essential supplies for waterway navigation.

He remains in contact with coach C.W Ponton. When asked how his time at CFCC has helped prepare him for his current career and lifestyle choices he said "It gave me a sense of discipline having to wake up for those early morning workout sessions before classes. It also showed me the importance of working as a team to achieve a goal".

What was your most memorable moment looking back at your time at Cape Fear?
Probably the only goal I ever made at one of our home game after knocking down two of their last defenders and shooting the ball just above the keeper's head. I also remember my catchphrase that even Coach Ponton began to repeat "I'm not sure what's going to happen when I go in but somethings gonna happen".

If you could tell an incoming freshman one thing what would it be?
Enjoy the moment. Regardless of whether or not you will continue to play soccer at a higher level, you'll never get the time back that you've been given to play soccer at Cape Fear Community College.

What is your biggest accomplishment after leaving Cape Fear? (personal or professional)
Joining the Coast Guard (Professional) and Creating a Youtube Channel/Brand "Truthful Sessions" that highlights the talents of acoustic artists from all across America (Personal)
