Cape Fear Community College women’s basketball had an opportunity to reach out to our local girl scouts this past Saturday, February 18th.  Head Coach Lori Drake paired up with Girl Scout Membership Specialist Debora Todd and held a mini basketball clinic for a group of our local girl scouts to come out and develop their basketball skills.  The clinic included dribbling, shooting, relay races, and competitions.

“The purpose of the clinic was so our new women’s basketball program could reach out to the community and build a strong relationship with those fans that will be supporting us throughout our inaugural season, stated Coach Drake.”

After the little sea devils learned some important skills to the game of basketball, they were then invited to participate in the halftime show of the men’s basketball game Saturday evening.  Since, nothing beats eating Girl Scout cookies and making baskets, Coach Drake put together a fun filled halftime show which involved a relay race at center court.  Each player had to eat one (1) peanut butter Girl Scout cookie, once they finished the cookie they would pick up their basketball, sprint to the hoop and make a basket.  With fun music in the background and fans cheering them on, the little sea devils had a blast!

A hug thank you to those Girl Scouts that participated!
