Sea Devils Surge Past Central Carolina With Big Second Half
Cape Fear shook off a slow start to storm past Central Carolina, using a dominant second half to secure a 91–80 home win. The Cougars came out firing, building an early lead and carrying a 42–35 advantage into halftime. But once the Sea Devils returned from the locker room, the entire pace of the game shifted.
Cape Fear's energy picked up on both ends of the floor, and the momentum tilted quickly. The Sea Devils poured in 56 second-half points, attacking in transition, spacing the floor, and turning defensive stops into scoring runs.
MJ Rice set the tone with 17 points, while JJ Moore delivered a well-rounded performance with 13 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Jon White knocked down five threes on his way to 15 points, and Greysen McCadden added a huge lift off the bench with 14. Jadyn Cooper also chipped in 13 as Cape Fear's depth proved to be a difference-maker.
Afterward, Coach Mark Lane said the group simply looked like a different team after halftime. "We were more locked in, more connected, and ready to execute." He highlighted the boosts White and McCadden provided off the bench, noting that when the Sea Devils shoot it that well in support roles, they give themselves a strong chance to win. Lane added that while the comeback was something to build on, there's still work to be done moving forward.
Cape Fear moves to 5–1 on the season and wraps up its fall schedule this weekend at the Brunswick Holiday Classic. The Sea Devils face Chattanooga State CC (TN) on Friday at 6:00 p.m., followed by Harcum College (PA) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
